What is Operation Red Arse I hear you cry?
Well, Operation Red Arse is a covert mission designed to while away hours I should be using for something else and to really piss off the TSR staff.
So how did it start? Well, tblacksabbatht decided to steal and upload all of atavera’s guitars, plus his custom instrument hack to TSR. MTS2 staff went on a rampage of reporting his uploads and commenting in his guestbook, and finally the items were taken down by staff.
But this had gotten me into an anti-TSR mood, and I’d had to register anyway to report uploads and post in the guestbook…
So I wandered towards the forums. My goal? To get banned. As fast as is humanly possible – without pointless spamming, I want to get banned without breaking the rules.
So, here’s the mission log, starting 23/03/2007 sometime mid-afternoon, I registered and uploaded my first avatar… at 4.57pm I posted this thread.
Around 11pm I replaced my highly offensive avatar with a mildly offensive one, and had my first unofficial talking-to from a mod! But they didn’t know me then, so the mod was nice.
Around the same time as I posted with a White Hat in FAs area, I added a link to the Federation For Free Sim Sites to my siggy. Also at this time, I started a debate with a mod about how shit TSR’s forum system is – but I did it tactfully ;)
This morning at about 8am I spotted this thread, and with it an opportunity. I knew I could get in some MTS2 links here, but the server was down so I had to be patient.
Now stuff starts happening!
At 3.29pm, my first post was edited by a mod!
What had I done that was inflammatory aside from the MTS2 links? Meh, just some comments about TSR rules and Nazi Germany…
Clearly Mod AudreyMay had been checking up on me, however, because I soon discovered that another of my posts had been edited!
03.40pm: I posted again on the kitchen counter thread
03.45pm: AudreyMay deleted my post, for inflammatory remarks, what bullshit! All I’d done was assure the worried parents that TSR’s deletion of my link was an overreaction and that, no, there really wasn’t porn hidden in Marylou & Numenor’s counters!!
04.21pm: Suddenly a PM appears in my inbox, from Mod AudreyMay!!
She says:

I am sending you this PM to inform you that while ModtheSims2 HAS removed most of its inappropriate content its current content still doesn’t not meet with TSR’s Adult Site Policy. We continually review sites that are often referred to by our forum users, to see if they fall within our guidelines. At this time, ModTheSim2 does not. Feel free to mention ModTheSims2 in any of your posts but do not post a direct link to the site.

“Certainly, may I ask what areas of the site/content/etc violate the TSR policy? I really cannot understand this stance on MTS2, and as such I’m likely to unwittingly link to more inappropriate sites unless I understand exactly what it is about MTS2 which is so unacceptable.

In the same paragraph, “Items of a sexual nature” are forbidden, and such hacks – The Casual Romance Hack etc. were moved to the adult site.
You will also notice that in the upload details of the hack you mentioned, Alien Pregnancy For Teens Male and Female, the InTeenimator is required for teenage pregnancy to work, a hack neither hosted nor supported by MTS2. The Alien Pregnancy hack is simply compatible with the InTeen. The brain processes of the creator when he/she named the hack are a mystery to me
Does this mean that links to MTS2 do, in fact, meet TSR’s adult policy – and the staff simply weren’t aware of the changes, after all, I know MTS2 very well and so finding this information was simple for me, but I doubt many of the TSR staff frequent MTS2; or are there further reasons for the ban?
